The Procurement Engineer – Electrical is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and procuring electrical equipment and materials required for projects. This role ensures the timely supply of compliant electrical items aligned with project specifications, quality standards, and budget constraints, working closely with engineering, planning, and vendor teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Sourcing & Procurement:
- Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers for electrical materials (e.g., switchgear, transformers, cables, panels, lighting, conduits, motors, control systems).
- Review technical specifications and ensure vendor offers meet project requirements.
- Solicit RFQs, compare quotations technically and commercially, and recommend best options.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
Coordination & Technical Support:
- Collaborate with electrical design and site teams to understand material needs and resolve technical queries.
- Coordinate with suppliers for material approvals, submittals, and compliance documentation.
- Track order status and manage timely delivery, including follow-up on manufacturing, testing, and inspections.
Cost, Schedule & Quality Control:
- Ensure procurement aligns with project budget and timeline targets.
- Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost-effectiveness, and delivery.
- Implement corrective actions in case of delays or non-conformance.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain procurement logs, vendor data, and material delivery records.
- Ensure all materials conform to project codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IEEE).
- Work with QA/QC and logistics teams to ensure inspection, transport, and storage requirements are met.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 0-2 years of experience in electrical procurement, ideally in construction, energy, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, standards, and supplier base.
- Proficiency in ERP/procurement platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Solid negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Familiarity with international trade terms (Incoterms) and logistics processes.
