Key Responsibilities:

• Review patient medical records and physician documentation for coding accuracy and completeness.
• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal coding regulations and payer guidelines.
• Work with physicians and other healthcare staff to clarify unclear documentation.
• Submit coded data to billing departments or insurance companies.
• Assist in resolving coding-related denials and insurance claim rejections.
• Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and insurance rules.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or higher in health-related field preferred.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification required.
• 1–2 years of medical coding experience (or as required).
• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding systems.
• Experience with EHR systems and coding software.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing rules.
• Experience in specialty coding (e.g., radiology, cardiology, or inpatient coding).
• Familiarity with HIPAA and data privacy regulations.
