A Mechanical Billing Engineer is responsible for preparing and managing bills of quantities (BOQs), cost estimations, and invoices related to mechanical engineering projects. They ensure accurate measurement, documentation, and billing of mechanical work, coordinating with site engineers, contractors, and project managers to track progress and financial aspects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Billing & Documentation:
- Prepare and verify Bills of Quantities (BOQs) based on project specifications.
- Generate RA (Running Account) bills, final bills, and subcontractor bills as per project progress.
- Maintain detailed records of executed work, materials used, and cost variations.
- Estimation & Costing:
- Analyze project drawings and specifications to prepare cost estimates.
- Track project budgets and expenditures to ensure cost efficiency.
- Conduct rate analysis and cost control measures for mechanical works.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with site engineers, project managers, and contractors to verify work done on-site.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding material costs and procurement.
- Coordinate with accounts and finance teams for timely processing of bills and payments.
- Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure that billing and documentation comply with contractual and regulatory standards.
- Verify that work completed aligns with engineering drawings and project specifications.
- Assist in preparing reports for audits, tenders, and project financial tracking.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Educational Qualification: Diploma/B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in billing, estimation, and costing for mechanical projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and ERP software for billing.
- Understanding of IS codes, contract management, and measurement techniques.
- Knowledge of HVAC, Piping, Structural, or other mechanical works.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
