Role Summary:

As an IT Career Counselor, you’ll guide individuals through the career planning process, helping them understand the IT job market, identify strengths and interests, and connect them with resources and opportunities in the tech world.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and group career counseling to individuals pursuing careers in IT (e.g., software development, cybersecurity, data science, IT support)
• Assist with resume writing, portfolio building, and LinkedIn optimization tailored to the tech industry
• Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback on technical and behavioral interview skills
• Guide clients on certifications, training programs, and skill-building pathways based on their career goals
• Stay updated on tech job market trends, in-demand skills, and employer expectations
• Collaborate with employers, recruiters, and internal teams to connect clients with job opportunities, internships, or mentorships
• Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress, and outcomes using internal tools or CRMs
• Develop and lead workshops or webinars on topics like job searching, networking, or industry insights

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Human Resources, Education, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience in career counseling, coaching, recruiting, or a related field—especially in IT or tech
• Strong understanding of IT roles, technologies, and career paths
• Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable using digital tools (Zoom, Google Workspace, CRM systems)
• Passion for helping others achieve their professional goals

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with technical hiring processes, bootcamps, or tech education programs
• Knowledge of platforms like LinkedIn, GitHub, or job boards (e.g., Indeed, Dice)
• Career coaching certification or counseling license is a plus
• Experience working with diverse populations or career changers
