Job Summary:


6+ years of experience in Database Administration. As a database administrator, you implement and manage the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions built on SQL Server and Azure SQL services. You use a variety of methods and tools to perform and automate day-to-day operations, including applying knowledge of using Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and other tools for administrative management purposes.


You're responsible for the following concerning database solutions:

Management
Availability
Security
Performance monitoring and optimization

You evaluate and implement assessment and migration strategies for moving databases between Azure and on-premises. Plus, you work with Azure data engineers, Azure solution architects, Azure developers, data scientists, and other professionals to manage operational aspects of data platform solutions.


As a candidate, you should have knowledge of and hands on experience with:

Azure SQL Database
Azure SQL Managed Instance
SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines and on-Premises Virtual / Physical servers

Skills possessed and measured.

Hands on Experience with writing database queries and Knowledge of database design and theories
Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors, includes Locking, Blocking, Long running queries and Maintenance Plans
Ability to work with data architects and other IT specialist to set up, maintain and monitor data networks using Azure Monitor and inbuilt SQL Monitoring Jobs.
Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools and Ola Hallengren scripts
Familiarity and hands on experience with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS
Hands on Experience with server installation, high availability Configuration and maintenance of SQL Databases
High-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
Create automation for repeating database tasks.
Monitor database performance, performance tuning and implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
Familiarity with database management best practices and IT security best practices
Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards.
Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
Excellent attention to detail, with Problem-solving and critical thinking
Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms.
