Job Summary:

The Tool Room Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and improving all tooling, jigs, fixtures, and molds used in the manufacturing process. This includes overseeing the tool room, ensuring that tools are available and in good condition, and coordinating repairs and improvements. The role requires hands-on technical expertise and strong problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day operations of the tool room.
• Maintain and repair molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures to ensure optimal performance.
• Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for tools and equipment.
• Develop and fabricate new tooling as per production and engineering requirements.
• Ensure timely availability of tools to avoid production downtime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues during production.
• Maintain records of tool usage, maintenance, and inventory.
• Work closely with the design, production, and quality departments for tooling improvements.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
• Suggest and implement improvements to enhance tool performance and life.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Tool Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience in a tool room environment (depending on role seniority).
• Strong knowledge of tool design, manufacturing, and maintenance practices.
• Hands-on experience with machines such as CNC, EDM, milling, grinding, lathe, etc.
• Understanding of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Familiarity with ISO/TS quality standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience (Optional):

• Experience with plastic injection molds, press tools, or die casting tools.
• Background in lean manufacturing and 5S practices.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and tool management software.
