Job Summary:
The Title Commitment Typist is responsible for accurately typing, preparing, and reviewing title commitment documents for real estate transactions. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of title insurance processes, and strong organizational skills to ensure that all documents meet legal and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Document Preparation:
Accurately type and format title commitment documents, including Schedule A and Schedule B.
Prepare preliminary title reports and commitment letters for review and approval.
Ensure all required information is included and correctly formatted.
Data Entry:
Input property details, legal descriptions, and other relevant information into title processing software.
Verify and cross-check data for accuracy and completeness.
Review and Verification:
Review title commitment documents for compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
Verify accuracy of property information, legal descriptions, and title exceptions.
Communication:
Communicate with title examiners, underwriters, and clients to gather necessary information and resolve any discrepancies.
Respond to inquiries and provide updates on the status of title commitments.
Record Keeping:
Maintain organized and accurate records of all title commitment documents and related correspondence.
Ensure secure handling of sensitive information.
Compliance:
Adhere to company policies and legal regulations related to title commitments and insurance.
Stay updated on industry standards and changes in title insurance laws.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in real estate or title insurance preferred.
Previous experience in a title processing or related administrative role is a plus.
Familiarity with title insurance processes and terminology is advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and title processing software.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Work Environment:
Office-based environment with standard working hours; additional hours may be required during peak periods.
