The Procurement Engineer – Civil is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services related to civil engineering projects. The role ensures timely delivery of high-quality construction materials, adherence to budget constraints, and compliance with relevant standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Sourcing & Vendor Management:
- Identify and qualify suppliers of civil construction materials (e.g., concrete, rebar, aggregates, formwork, scaffolding).
- Solicit and evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and payment conditions.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Procurement Planning:
- Collaborate with project and engineering teams to forecast material needs based on construction schedules.
- Develop procurement strategies and timelines aligned with project milestones.
- Contract Management:
- Draft and review purchase orders, contracts, and agreements ensuring legal and technical compliance.
- Manage contract administration and monitor supplier performance.
- Cost & Quality Control:
- Ensure procurement is within budget and meets the required technical specifications and quality standards.
- Work with QA/QC and site teams to address non-conformances or material issues.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate procurement records, reports, and logs.
- Provide regular updates on procurement status to project stakeholders.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, and safety standards.
- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, including delays and supplier defaults.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in procurement within the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction materials, standards, and suppliers.
- Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and local procurement laws (as applicable).
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
