Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing:
- Process and administer employee payroll on a bi-weekly/monthly basis.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, bonuses, overtime, and other compensation elements.
- Verify and update payroll records, including timekeeping systems.
- Process and track deductions such as taxes, insurance, and retirement contributions.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure compliance.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual reports (e.g., 941, 940, W-2, and W-3).
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, tax requirements, and company policies related to payroll.
- Employee Records:
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring confidentiality and data security.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll policies.
- Benefits Administration:
- Administer employee benefit programs (e.g., health insurance, retirement contributions).
- Process benefit deductions and ensure that they are reflected in payroll.
- Reconciliation & Audits:
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and report any errors to appropriate management for correction.
- Participate in payroll audits and assist with financial audits, providing accurate and timely data as needed.
- Other Administrative Tasks:
- Assist with the implementation of payroll software or systems.
- Work with HR and Finance departments to ensure smooth workflow between payroll and other functions.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree or higher preferred).
- Previous experience in payroll administration (2+ years preferred).
- Knowledge of payroll systems, software, and tax laws.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in payroll processing (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)).
- Experience with [specific payroll software, such as ADP, Paychex, etc.].
- Familiarity with benefits administration and other HR functions.
