Job Summary

A Mechanical Fitter assembles, installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical systems and machinery. They work from technical drawings, use specialized tools, and ensure operational efficiency and safety across industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Assembly & Installation
• Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to construct and install mechanical systems and components.
• Maintenance & Repairs
• Conduct routine inspections to prevent breakdowns, diagnose mechanical faults, and repair or replace parts as necessary.
• Troubleshooting
• Identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
• Technical & Tool Operations
• Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery (e.g., lathes, milling machines) for fitting tasks.
• Safety Compliance
• Follow health and safety regulations, use appropriate PPE, perform safety inspections, and maintain a secure working environment.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Record maintenance and repair activities, generate reports, and collaborate with procurement for parts ordering.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education & Training
• Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferably, hold a relevant vocational qualification or have completed an apprenticeship in mechanical fitting.
• Core Technical Skills
• Proficient in interpreting technical diagrams, using hand and power tools, and operating precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and fabrication methods like welding is advantageous.
• Essential Soft Skills
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, time management, and physical stamina. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
