We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of testing strategies for our products or systems. As the Lead Test Engineer, you will guide a team of testers, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. You will also work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues, while driving process improvements and adopting new testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test Strategy Development: Lead the creation of comprehensive test strategies for both manual and automated testing, ensuring alignment with business and product goals.
- Test Planning & Execution: Oversee the planning, design, and execution of test cases for various levels of testing (unit, integration, system, user acceptance, etc.).
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of test engineers, providing guidance, technical expertise, and support. Ensure that the team adheres to best practices and meets deadlines.
- Automation Development: Drive the adoption and improvement of automated testing processes and tools to improve efficiency and coverage. Develop and maintain test scripts for automated test cases.
- Bug Identification & Reporting: Identify, reproduce, and document defects and track them through to resolution, ensuring that issues are communicated effectively to the development teams.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide feedback on testability and risk.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to continuously improve testing processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance the quality and reliability of our products.
- Metrics & Reporting: Define and monitor key quality metrics (e.g., defect density, test coverage, etc.) and report on test results, risks, and product quality to senior management.
- Process Documentation: Create and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test documentation to ensure thorough and reproducible testing.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks during testing and work to mitigate them by adjusting strategies and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (Masters or equivalent experience is a plus).
- Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience in software testing, with at least [X] years in a leadership or senior test engineering role.
- Technical Skills:
- Extensive experience with manual and automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, QTP, JUnit, TestNG, etc.).
- Proficient in programming/scripting languages for test automation (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.).
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla).
- Familiarity with performance testing tools (e.g., LoadRunner, JMeter).
- Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Leadership Skills:
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of engineers.
- Excellent mentoring and coaching skills to develop team capabilities.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and derive solutions quickly.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while working on multiple tasks or projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr, etc.).
- Knowledge of cloud-based testing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Familiarity with security testing, accessibility testing, and mobile testing.
- Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).
