The Credit Manager - Commercial Credit is responsible for overseeing the assessment of credit applications within the Commercial Lending space. The role involves identifying and supporting the development needs of staff, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, and providing specialist advice on credit processes and procedures. The Credit Manager will also have delegated underwriting authority to approve loan applications and will be a key subject matter expert for complex credit-related issues.

What will your day look like
As a Credit Manager you will:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements (e.g., Kaizen ideas) to decrease cost per transaction in the Small Business Assessment process
- Monitor and report on customer-driven service level metrics to ensure the delivery of quality service.
- Act as the primary point of contact for escalated customer issues, providing expert guidance and resolution.
- Resolve complex customer concerns by applying advanced credit knowledge and judgment.
- Conduct thorough creditworthiness assessments and make sound decisions using the Credit Approval Document (CAD), ensuring alignment with Group credit policies and principles.
- Proactively engage with stakeholders to explore alternative credit structures that can make proposals more acceptable.
- Contribute to performance planning, identify training needs, and provide ongoing coaching and guidance to team members.
- Coach and mentor new and existing staff to ensure compliance with CAD and related credit processes.
- Serve as a technical expert, ensuring all credit and risk processes meet legislative and regulatory standards (including ASIC, APRA, etc.).
- Effectively communicate credit and risk objectives to ensure that staff are informed, compliant, and aligned with regulatory requirements
What will you bring
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Experience: Minimum 3-4 years in Credit Underwriting, preferably in Home Loans or Small Business Assessment. (Mandatory)
- Governance: Experience with or understanding of governance processes is required.
- Performance: Must be rated as a Strong Performer or higher.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Credit policy and relevant legislative requirements (including ASIC, APRA, etc.).
- Skills: Strong communication, coaching, and influencing abilities.
- Problem-Solving: Capable of handling complex conversations and taking a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with quick decision-making capabilities
